Daily writing prompt
What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

Daily life as we all know always has some type of chaos or mistakes throughout the day. Can be a small mistake or a big one but how we react to it can adversely affect the outcome.

For example, let’s say you drop a glass of water. The glass breaks and there are shards everywhere. The water is spilled onto the floor. You go into chaos mode and are pissed at yourself for what you have done. “Idiot, so stupid stupid stupid”. You’re angry and just trying to pick up everything but you rush and accidentally step on a shard.

OUCH! Now you’re in pain and cleaning up a mess. This should not have even happened in the first place. You are angry and basically, things are just in CHAOS.

OK how else should that situation have gone down like? You drop the glass and it breaks, can you go back in time? No, unless you have the time stone or a DeLorean.

The best you can do is calm down, pick up your mess and go about your day. Avoiding the domino effect.

I haven’t always done this but it has recently helped me quite a bit. Im a very patient person which is why this has worked for me.

Stop & Laugh

First Daily habit: Whenever something happens to me and it’s beyond my control, I stop and laugh at myself. Not a hysterical laugh but just a ha silly me laugh.

Why? Because what can you do? The mistake happened and you can’t do anything but fix it. Move it along!

Comparison

Second Daily habit: As I start to fix the problem or issue, I think about all the ways this would have been worse. Magically, thinking how dropping a glass of water and it breaking is not as bad as dropping my phone and the screen cracking. Makes the whole situation better because by comparison the problem is now tiny and not as catastrophic.

Recap

Any time something out of your control happens. Stop & Laugh. Think about how this would have been worse. Then go about your day.

By doing these habits my daily life has improved. I went from beating myself up for any little mistake to realizing mistakes will ALWAYS happen and your reaction is what matters!
