I see transformation challenges all over social media—they hype up progress and showcase some seriously impressive “before and after” journeys.

Every time I see someone go from overweight to fit in what looks like just a few months, I get that surge of motivation.

But, honestly, it’s a mix of emotions.

Here’s the thing

These challenges can make it look like big change happens overnight. But the truth? Most of these transformations take years—sometimes one, sometimes three. That’s only if you stick with strict habits, non-stop.

Positives

Transformation challenges can light a fire under you. I won’t lie: whenever I see someone with a similar starting point to me pull off a big change, it gives me real hope.

That kind of high-energy motivation is what often gets us started at all. Plus, it gets you out of your comfort zone.

Negatives

The other side is tough.

When my own progress is slow, and I see all those dramatic success stories, I can’t help but wonder: “What’s wrong with me?”

It’s easy to start thinking about shortcuts, or pushing harder than you should—sometimes to the point of making unhealthy decisions just to keep up.

I’ve learned (the hard way) that trying to win at “fastest transformation” can hurt more than help.

My Take

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I keep it real. No shortcuts, no fake routines, and I’m not here to sell a “guaranteed results” plan.

Confession time: I quit the 1UP transformation challenge.

Not because I gave up on myself or my goals—I just gave up on treating my journey as something to be won in a contest.

Why?

  1. I wasn’t seeing drastic changes in a short time.
  2. I don’t want to chase a number on the scale or push myself to unhealthy extremes just for bragging rights.

Instead, I’m focusing on milestones, small improvements, and building a lifestyle I can actually stick to—because the last time I reached a “goal weight,” I ended up regaining it all.

That’s not happening again.

What about you?

Have you ever tried a transformation challenge, or regained weight after a big “win”?
What keeps you motivated on the slow days?

I think it’s great that the transformation challenge brought you into the gym. It really is a slow and steady process, but the benefits are invaluable.

And ultimately, it’s a lifestyle change. For the better!
