I’m sitting here in my sofa chair, trying to remember the blog idea I had earlier today about my fitness journey. I’d just finished washing bottles, tidied the living room, and got my son bathed and fed. Felt ready to write.

Then, out of nowhere, I hear some really unsupportive words:
“What are you doing? Sitting there wasting your time writing a column nobody reads?”

She said it exactly like that. Mind you, she had been abruptly woken by my son, probably in a bad mood, and maybe I made it worse by asking what was wrong.

But hitting a man in his one form of expression—something I put real thought and heart into—is pretty brutal. It hit me deep.

The Daily Bugle

First off, this isn’t a newspaper, nor do I expect or want my own column.

Second, it stings to give 95% of my time and use the remaining 5% for blogging, only to get that kind of negativity.

Barnacles

I won’t lie: when I get hit with negativity, my first instinct is to shut down. That’s exactly what happened—I closed my laptop and my mind dove into a slump, like it usually does.

Growing up, I didn’t have much of a support system beyond my parents.

My friends came and went until high school, but most of the time, it’s been me, myself, and I holding me up.

Yoyo – You On Your Own

I normally joke that “yoyo” means something else, but today it means this:
At the end of the day, the only person who has your back—more than anyone—is YOU.

You decide how much something affects you.

You’re the one waking up at 3 AM to hit the gym, pushing every single day.

People—loved ones included—might throw shade or doubt your path.

But it’s your effort, your fight, your push that matters. Keep going. Because when it works out, it’ll be because YOU refused to quit.

To the 1 or 2 people who read this “column”.

Thank you for reading ❤️

Dale Carnegie said this about smiles, but i think it can also apply to writing: It costs nothing, but creates much. It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give. It happens in a flash and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
Creating meaning with words is kinda cool if you ask me. Not to mention it’s the best tool to use for self reflection. Just my thoughts.
Also you’re welcome for reading lol

I’m glad you were able to find some positivity in my blog. I agree with your comment and definitely self reflect. Sometimes I pretend like Im only writing it for my future self to read.

However, I appreciate you Danny 🙏
